Basingstoke artist Sian Storey to paint live in Festival Place’s THAT Gallery on Saturday November 3rd, 2018.
Art lovers are being invited to see acclaimed artist Sian Storey at work, as she paints live in Festival Place’s THAT Gallery on Saturday 3 November 2018. Sian is known for her enchanting paintings of birds and wildlife, and this is a rare opportunity to see first-hand how Sian’s art comes to life.
Visitors will have the opportunity to chat to Sian, and gain an insight into her inspirations and colourful creative techniques. Sian will be painting live between 10am – 4pm, and entry to the gallery is completely free. THAT Gallery can be found on the upper level opposite Apple.
Basingstoke-based Sian is looking forward to stepping outside of her studio and painting in the gaze of the public. She said “There's a real appetite for art in Basingstoke, but most of my customers have never seen how I make my paintings. For one day only, people will have the chance to come along and see my new paintings being created in person.”
Sian’s eye-catching art is already familiar to many in Basingstoke, as she painted two of the Sitting with Jane Book Benches which adorned the town during the Jane Austen celebrations last year.
Sian has also exhibited regularly in THAT Gallery, an artist-led gallery which has been ‘popping up’ in Festival Place since 2014. It exhibits the work of several talented and diverse local artists, and prides itself on being a gallery that everyone can enjoy, from art enthusiasts to casual collectors. THAT Gallery can currently be found on the upper level of Festival Place, opposite Apple until the end of 2018.
Introducing ‘Hold On’ - a tender painting by Sian Storey channeling the sadness and fragility of life, and the unbreakable bond between mother and child.
Painted on a 50 x 70cm canvas, this is a stunning one-off piece of artwork. Sian used acrylic and spray paint to create this vivid elephant painting. Sian's rich colours, stencilling and shimmering gold spray paint give this painting an ethereal feel.

I'm excited to reveal the latest in my ongoing series of Japanese-inspired paintings - 'Kyoto Skies'
The title ‘Kyoto Skies’ refers to the beautifully clear crisp blues of springtime in Japan that create a backdrop to the beauty of the Sakura season as well as the many tranquil gardens there.
A rectangular canvas sized at 30x100cm and 5cm depth, I used acrylic and spray paint to create this vibrant painting. The harmonious colours of seafoam green and blue provide a backdrop to the vivid colours of the hummingbirds in flight, and hot pink blossoms in bloom.
Meet my newest painting - Panthera. Sized at 100 x 100cm it's a stunning statement piece, especially for wildlife or tiger lovers. It's available now...

Introducing a brand new painting, 'Journey'. Read on to find out more and buy...
‘Journey’ is an original bird painting by emerging British artist Sian Storey.
A chunky canvas sized at 80 x 120cm and 7.5cm deep, Sian used acrylic and spray paint to create this beautiful and powerful painting.
The rich and dense purples and blues pop against a crisp white background.
The painting is signed by the artist Sian Storey on the front and reverse.
‘Journey’ celebrates the beauty and movement of birds, an ongoing theme in Sian’s artwork.
As the title suggests ‘Journey’ hints at the phenomenal ability of birds to travel distance; the energy of its movement captured by Sian’s signature colours and brushstrokes.
How it was created
‘Journey’ was painted in Sian Storey’s studio in leafy Hampshire in Spring 2018. Using acrylics and spray paint, you'll see detailed, delicate brushwork and beautiful mists of spray paint.
Sian paints in layers, as seen in the rich acrylic paint of the feathers and powerful wings. The spray paint is used to diffuse edges and lines, creating a hazy, dreamy finish.
